This Friday former student and staff member Allison Koornneef will give an open lecture in which she’ll be talking about her internship experience with the Society for the Promotion of Area Resource Centers (SPARC) during her time as a student in our program. Allison will outline the development model employed by this organization, recently awarded Curry Stone’s 2016 Vision Award, that formed in 1984 as a grassroots activism platform in support of Mumbai’s most vulnerable and invisible urban poor – the pavement dwellers.

“The organization has expanded its scope,” Allison adds, “simultaneously working from the bottom-up while tackling larger scale, systemic issues in top-down processes. The NGO has formed new networks that truly achieve substantial, holistic change for local communities, nations, and global networks.”

Join us this Friday at 12:30 at UIC Barcelona.
